On this special day, we gather not merely to mark another Teachers’ Day, but to honour the profound impact of an exceptional individual who dedicated his life to shaping our destinies. Our beloved teacher and mentor, Girish Mistry, was born on September 5th, 1960, and sadly departed on May 22, 2023.
When reflecting on our life’s journey, we often find ourselves standing on the shoulders of giants, and Girish Sir undeniably stands as one of those towering figures in our lives. As a true teacher and guru, he not only imparted knowledge but also instilled values, ignited our curiosity, and guided us through the labyrinth of life’s challenges.
A teacher’s influence extends far beyond the classroom. Girish Sir not only taught us subjects but also sculpted our characters. He taught us the enduring significance of integrity and perseverance through his patience, empathy, and unwavering support.
A remarkable teacher or guru doesn’t just teach; they inspire. Girish Sir unveiled the beauty of knowledge and the thrill of discovery for us. He nurtured our potential, urged us to dream big, and equipped us with the skills to relentlessly pursue those dreams.

Girish Sir was more than Shari Academy’s founder; he was its heart. His work and vision turned a dream into a place where photographers grow.
His teachings and encouragement remain with us. His words remind us to do our best, be ourselves, and be kind.
Though he isn’t here for his birthday, his memory lives on. We promise to keep his dreams alive.

He was like a father figure, always guiding us, humorously but strictly, towards eternal victory.

I met Girish before around 1987/88 and looked up to him like a rockstar in photography.
On coming back in 1992 he welcomed me in AIPA as a Photogtapher and was always very helpful and supportive.
He was and will remain as an inspiration and a friend with whom I could always share a laugh and look up to.
I pay my respects to the man who was a pioneer and founder of the term ‘ Photography ke Guru’ in every way
